Things to Consider: Flooring Project
Before you settle on flooring, here are a few things to think about:
The amount of traffic the floor will handle
How long you will be using the property
The company you will use
The amount of foot traffic the floor will handle determines to a great degree what kind of flooring you should use. Obviously, if this is a common room that will handle daily traffic you will need a sturdy floor to hold up over time. Flooring materials being sold right now have been developed for endurance, but the type of flooring enhances the look of any room. Carpet is typically not a good idea if your room will have a lot of daily use - hardwoods, ceramic tile, laminated or vinyl flooring is probably best. In a commercial setting there are some short pile carpets that might be a good choice.
How long you will be using the property?
Any type of flooring will require some maintenance: cleaning, vacuum or refinishing. A hardwood flooring will hold up well, but would need to be refinished every 5-10 years depending on traffic. High quality hardwoods can be refinished several times without losing lustre.
Think about the flooring installation company
Make sure the company or contractor you select is licensed and bonded. Look online for good reviews. A good flooring company/contractor will make sure that your flooring project is done right and will be happy to take care any problem issues over time.
